Featured Faces

I thought it might be fun to find cards that depicted someone famous, someone not associated with games or gaming usually. Of course, there are many that feature in Quartetts, and I have included some, but there are well-known people who pop up in some unlikely places. Under each picture there is some further information.

  • Queen Elizabeth II (1926 - ), British monarch

  • The game was about her Coronation in 1953 and featured many aspects of the occasion
  • David Essex (1947 - ), singer and actor.

  • Oscar winner but maybe most famous for feuding with Bette Davis, who she detested
  • Helmuth von Moltke (1800 - 1891), German Field-Marshall

  • Hero in Germany because he presided over the Franco-Prussian war in 1871 and thus unified the German States into a country
  • Adolf Hitler (1889 - 1945), German politician

  • War-time British game poking fun at the man and his cohorts
  • Roger Moore (1927 - ), actor

  • Here the actor (as James Bond) discusses gadgets with Q
  • David McCallum (1933 - ), actor

  • Loser of the Wars of the Roses and recently discovered under a car park in Leicester city centre
  • William Boyd (1895 - 1972), actor
  • From Hopalong Cassidy Snap by Chad Valley
  • Star of Western films and television. Sensibly bought the rights to the character of Hopalong Cassidy and became very rich for doing so.
